Cozumel, Mexico

Today we were in Cozumel. This is the only port that we have been to before on this cruise. We got breakfast and got in line to debark the ship. This was quite a process and of course, from our viewpoint, it certainly seems like there should be an easier process to easily get people off of the ship.

At the end of the pier we met our tour guide to Isla de Pasion, We had 59 people, traveling via four speedboats to the island. After getting our lifejackets and literally strapped into the boat, off we went 45-55 mph up the coast to the north end of Cozumel. Before docking we did several 360 degree turns and the first four or five were lots of fun and we were all quickly soaked, the next couple were a few too many for me but we docked and got off the boats.

The island was used for one of the Corona ads and once we arrived there we saw it was every bit as picturesque as we could imagine. Once on the island, Ida gave us a quick tour and we found a great place under a palapayas (sp?) which is a thatched roof umbrella and I got my book, laid on the lounge chair and enjoyed the beautiful scenery while LJ went… you guessed it… off on photo adventures. There was a water trampoline, kayaks, paddle boats and as much sand and sun as one could soak up. After about three hours we boarded the boats once more and headed back to Cozumel.

LJ took some of his extra camera gear back to the ship while I waited there in town and then we did some shopping before we said goodbye to our first port. 2.1268694748.lj-and-cozumel-cow

We came back to the ship and took a quick nap before getting ready for dinner. After dinner we decided to call it an early night and get ready for our visit to Roatan tomorrow.2.1268694748.towel-animal---sting-ray
