After a wonderful night in the Inn, we were up early because today was our trip with Lazy Otter Charters and we couldn’t wait to get out on the water!

We started the day with breakfast at the Lazy Otter Cafe which included biscuits and gravy for me and a breakfast sandwich and amazing cinnamon roll for LJ.
Soon we were out on the water with one other couple and the Captain. The day was filled with amazing wildlife, seals, sea otters, sea lions, puffins and jellyfish – lots and lots of jellyfish!
We saw a few glaciers, one was Surprise Glacier and the second was extra special to us, it was called Barry Glacier (shout out to my brother!). Wow, he’s just so popular! Of course, the glacier is receding and falling apart (some call it calving) so it was befitting the name (ha!)
While our Captain prepared lunch for us to eat onboard, we got off the boat and went on a hike. The moss covering the ground is like a blanket and feels squishy under your feet.
It was truly a wonderful day, we were tired but had to get on the road to Soldotna – we’re staying at the North Star Cabin on the Kenai tonight. This is a cabin that our fishing charter for later in the week has available on their property. We’ll stay here tonight and then again later this week when we go fishing with them two different days. Tomorrow we are going to visit the bears!
