We were up early this morning. Mom went down and had coffee with Mike and Marsha and they just bantered back and forth. She and Mike really hit it off. LJ decided to go to the laundromat with our bloody fish clothes and took the fish to the processing plant. He got back at 9 and we had a delicious breakfast of made to order omelets, pancakes, bacon, breakfast potato casserole, pickled salmon and fresh fruit. It was delicious and hit the spot!
We quickly packed up and got ready to leave, after we said our goodbyes, we picked up the clothes from the laundromat and headed to the ship. The baggage drop off opened at 11 and we dropped them right when they opened. Then we were able to quickly check in and then I dropped LJ off to go on a Kenai Fjords boat trip. He got to see some amazing wildlife on his tour, including a pod of Orcas, sea lions and otters!
Mom and I boarded the ship and went to get some lunch while we waited for the rooms to get ready. Our bags came to the room fairly quickly and so I unpacked for us and then helped mom get settled, worked on the blog and then got ready for dinner. We had to do some work with the cruise line because they had placed Mom at a different table than us but they got it sorted out. We have a table for six with a couple from Florida and a gentleman from Alberta, Canada who will be “snowbirding” at his place in The Villages in Florida this year. LJ arrived a little after six and we all had a great dinner talking about past cruise experiences, family and NASCAR.
We then had to go our safety drill, Mom was happy it was inside and not out on deck and then we did head out to watch a bit of sail away from Seward. We were on our way out of Seward at 8 PM and it’s so nice to have sunset after 10 and be able to enjoy seeing the ship leave port. We were all pretty tired so we opted to just take it easy and call it an early night.
