Oh Canada…

We had to be out of our rooms this morning at 8 AM so Numie had an enticing breakfast of raisin bran and 2% milk in her room while LJ and I went upstairs early for breakfast.  LJ went back to acquire her a few minutes before 8 and then we got her coffee’d up and ready for the day.  While we were waiting we saw some of the new supplies being loaded onto the ship from the floor porthole.

We got off the ship about 9:45 AM, claimed our luggage and then stored it at Canada Place.  Then we got tickets for the Hop On / Hop Off bus and made our way to Stop #3 which was the hotel right at the cruise terminal.

We planned to go to the Aquarium at Stanley Park which was only about 20 minutes into the 2 hour and 15 minute round trip of the tour.  When we got up to get off the bus the driver announced it would be a fifteen minute walk to get to the aquarium so we all looked at each other and sat right back down – that might be a little too much to put into the day so we just finished the trip around Vancouver and enjoyed learning more about the city.  We got off at the hotel and decided to have lunch there in one of their restaurants.  Mom and I shared a crab cake appetizer, she had some mashed potatoes (see a trend here?) and I got a Caesar salad.  LJ had a gorgeous burger and onion rings.  Lunch was a hit!

Then we headed back to claim our luggage and head to the train station.  While there was quite a line it went quickly and soon we were comfortably seated onboard and ready to head south.   LJ and Numie thought they were pretty funny taking photos with Flat Stanley.

The views were just gorgeous, from farmland to water, cows and boats, we loved the trip.  This was train ride #3 for the trip and our final one – Numie declared “I like riding the train!”.

We got to the train station in Seattle around 10 PM and the second preseason game of the Mariners was also just finishing.  Two great workers from the station helped us with our bags and also helped in allowing car services to come into the train station, the traffic cops were not letting them.  We got to the hotel around 11:30 and settled into our rooms.  Tomorrow we would rest and explore Seattle a bit as long as everyone feels up to it.
