The final fish…

The final fish…
Soldotna to Minneapolis and Home

Another early morning, up at 4:30 am for fishing the Kasilof with our guide, Alex.  This would be a float trip and something a little different for this trip.  I caught my first Dolly Varden fairly quickly during in our first spot and then LJ quickly landed a nice Silver.  Then to our surprise, between us we landed six King Salmon!  Unfortunately, they are now out of season so we couldn’t keep them or actually even bring them in the boat but they were some big ones and man would they fight.  They were a beautiful red, preparing to spawn and that was some very exciting fishing.  Twice we both had kings on at the same time which was quite entertaining.  Alex estimated my largest to be close to 40 lbs.

We moved through a couple other spots and LJ caught a second silver and then I caught one as well.  This was our first day of the entire trip that we didn’t limit out on our fish but we honestly didn’t care, we had more than enough to even take home with us so we were very happy.

We dropped off the fish at the fish processing plant, headed to the cabin to shower and change clothes and then went back to pick up the fish and head to Anchorage.

We dropped off the car and then got checked in for our flight.  We ate dinner at Silver Gulch at the airport and it was delicious.

Our adventure was over but wow… Alaska had once again proven to be amazing.
