Up before the sun this morning to catch our flight to Seattle. Tom, our friend that has now taken us to the airport for several of our trips was at the house at 5:30 AM for us to head out.
We had a 7:30 departure from Charlotte and by the time we made it through check-in and security, we rolled to the gate right in time for boarding.
After boarding, the pilot notified us we were waiting for the water truck before we could take off but that it had broken down so we were delayed about an hour before we could take off.
Finally, water on board and we were off on our Alaskan adventure!
We all made purchases onboard for breakfast. Mom said it was too early to eat before leaving the house and without time to buy something in the airport, we enjoyed some onboard breakfast sandwiches.
Our travel plans got changed a bit today and we ended up staying in Seattle overnight. We stayed at the DoubleTree at the airport – it was huge! Over 800 rooms and several buildings. Mom just wanted a sandwich for dinner so we picked one up for her from the little café and we decided to order room service. The restaurant just seemed so far away once we got to our room, especially still being on ‘east coast’ time in our minds. We had some great burgers and called it a night! Tomorrow… on to Alaska!
