Our flight was at 12:40 PM today to Anchorage, we took the airport shuttle and actually had a manager in training go with us on our shuttle to the airport, he and the driver were so very nice. This was our first trip on Alaska Airlines. After getting checked in, LJ went on ahead to secure us some sandwiches just in case we ran too close on time again. I texted him that mom and I were through security and we made it to the gate, he soon called and said, sorry I didn’t have my phone. He got the full love at security today, every camera and lens was wiped down to test for any type of explosives due to new ways people are utilizing electronics as weapons.
Flat Stanley was a first grade project for my great niece Braelyn. While the project was just a couple weeks long, I made copy of Stanley and laminated him so he could continue traveling with me on work trips and on personal trips as well so we were happy to have Stanley with us as he returns to Alaska for his second trip!
He found us some deli sandwiches and water for the flight (Numie never drinks as much as we want her to!). We were able to board the flight and the flight attendants were wonderful. Numie loves the biscoff cookies and they snuck her a few extra ones for her to enjoy on the trip. She seems to get spoiled everywhere she goes! We had a great flight and they were able to land early. We claimed our bags and called for the hotel shuttle.
Jackie from the Residence Inn Anchorage was our shuttle driver and was so sweet. She let us know we could also use the shuttle to the train station on the morning – score! She also offered a breakfast bag to go for us since the breakfast would not be open when we needed to leave for the station. We ordered one for Mom and got placed on the 6 AM shuttle list for tomorrow morning.
Mom was fairly tuckered and didn’t want to go out to dinner. She’s attempting to stay on Eastern Standard Time but we’re not so sure how well that is going to last after we get on the ship. She’ll be going to shows at 1:00 AM! Party animal!
The hotel had a Manager’s Reception and had a food truck called “Bear Mace Bites” so we decided to try it before walking to a local restaurant for dinner. I had their tri-tip tacos which were delicious, LJ opted for a chicken sandwich after the owner of the truck said that their Tennessee style sandwich was his specialty.
After visiting with a few of the other hotel guests we started our walk over to the Moose’s Tooth for our third visit to this great hotspot! The location of the hotel and restaurant was kind of a “you can’t get there from here” situation. We could see it from the end of the street across the highway but were supposed to walk down and around to get there… because of the highway. In our rebellious and crazy state we jay-ran across the highway halfway and then the rest of the way. LJ didn’t think this was an issue – I was very stressed!

It was about an hour wait at the Moose’s Tooth. This restaurant apparently has this kind of wait during the entire summer / tourist season. We read a local magazine about the happenings in and around Anchorage and soon our table was called. We had delicious cheese bread and split a pizza – LJ pepperoni and sun-dried tomatoes and me margherita. LJ ordered a piece of Key Lime Pie for dessert to go and I called for us an Uber so we didn’t risk an arrest with Mom back at the hotel, oh and it was also raining.
Tomorrow we’ll be on the train to Seward!
